RE: MUP-14-4210/Town of Winthrop and Winthrop Police, MassCOP Local 421
MUP-15-4652/Town of Winthrop and Ferruccio Romeo
Dear Messrs. Lichten, Romeo, Bryant, and Greenspan:
On June 19, 2020, I sent a letter informing the parties that upon review of the
charges in the above-captioned cases, the DLR intended to consolidate MUP-14-4210
and MUP-15-4652 and allow both cases to proceed to the CERB for review unless the
parties could show cause why it should not do so. On June 30, 2020, counsel for Mr.
Romeo filed a show cause response objecting to consolidation. Neither the Union nor
the Town filed a response.
Upon further review of these cases and after consideration of Mr. Romeo’s show
cause response, I have concluded that consolidating MUP-14-4210 and MUP-15-4652 is
the appropriate course of action for the reasons set forth in my prior letter. Accordingly,
both cases will proceed to the CERB for review.
