PUBLIC COMMENTS
Jack Dowd P2-Discussed the bus route being changed was not done by previously by the Town Council
Walden St. is very narrow and this was deemed inappropriate….
The Town Manager believes this is a suitable option.
He asks why there was no public hearing or meeting on this change of bus routes.
This will make it difficult for people to make this change…
Maybe eliminate the bus services, there are many different options
Many programs and many ways to finance….
UBER like Service is used for towns of 50,000 +
Maybe get funded by the state or MBTA….
Not many people taking the T anymore….
New Revenue….for sale sign on Bank of America…bids were due. If a person has to bid on this property,
they are going to want to get the most out of this property…
We’ll find out consequences of new project. This will have an effect of people living in the area.
Comments on Somerset Bldg. being a pet friendly building, but it is not…dogs are using French Sq.
now…why are there not signs?
Peg Roberts P5-Has a question on the runway 9 and the planes are inundating the point. What are we getting
from Mass port to mitigate the discomfort on these planes and noise?
Town Council President understands her concerns and there is a PILOT paid and we will pass her concerns on.
Karin Chavis P1) Thanks Matt….great presentation…
Has question on Waterways cost…current slip feed does include now but will benefit if boats choose to add
something else…frig, ac..etc.
Confused on police vehicles? Vehicles will be alternated due to the hybrid taking a year and gas only 8 weeks,
we can work with both but will alternate between both.

TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF JUNE 6, 2023 PAGE 3

MBTA effected July 2, 2023 the current bus top routes will be changed from Hermon St. to Walden St.
This is being changed by the Town Manager and the Town Council President believes this should be done.
Will this be perfect? No, but it is something that will be done. Bus Stop at crosswalk on Walden at B Ball
Court, Corner of Lincoln and Pauline (Tennis court side) Bus stops to mimic Main St. stops.
Councilor Belcher asks how people are being notified of this
Town Manager reports MBTA will be advertising and it will be on WCAT
Town Manager reports this decision did not come lightly but at this point it should be considered and MBTA
also wanted this sooner than later.
Walkway Stairs from Hermon St. to Walden St. are being reviewed for repair since these will be used more
due to the change in the bus route.
Town Council President reports that we are looking to demolish the Middle School and the auditorium, his
thoughts that there could be 3 lots available for the neighborhood and between this would be green space and
