Winthrop Board of Health Meeting
Meeting Minutes for October 8, 2024
Harvey Hearing Room, Town Hall 
Meeting called to order at 3:30 PM 
Members Present :
Christine Reilly, Jeanne Maggio, Mary Lou Cooney 
Election of Chair and Vice-Chair: 
 Christine Reilly was nominated and seconded for Chair and unanimously approved 3-0 
 Jeanne Maggio was nominated and seconded for Vice-Chair and unanimously approved 3-0
Minutes from the BOH meeting of June 26, 2024, were read and unanimously approved 3-0 
Public Comment :
John Morgan, Precinct 4, advocate of White Cane Month, and a member of the Disabilities Commission, spoke
about upcoming Board meetings. Mr. Morgan was recognized by the Board as a leading figure in community
disability issues. 
Reports: 
Director of Public Health and Clinical Services Update: Meredith Hurley, Public Health Director 
 Director Hurley distributed the Public Health budget memo to Board members, and gave a general
overview of the Health Department ’ s mission, discussing the structure and staffing of the Health
Department, regional partnerships, opioid risk mitigation and mental health outreach goals, use of grants,

outreach to local youth and the community at large, the many programs administered by the Health
Department, and nationwide recognition of the department ’ s success
Commissioner of Inspectional Services Report Update:
Chair read an email from Sharon Sicurella, Health Inspector: 
 [body of email] 
 Chair recognized the successful resolution of an issue on Beacon Street by Inspectional Services
Vice-Chair noted that updates from various Town departments, related to public health, will be a feature of
upcoming Board meetings 
Other Business: Board Clerk was introduced
Meeting adjourned at 4:37 PM
Adjournment at 4:37 approved unanimously 3-0
