CDICR - Meeting Minutes 3/19/25
6:00 - 7:00 Meeting room Town Hall
Attendance: Aaron Williams (chairperson), Scott Wright-Mahoney
(vice-chair), Stephen Githinji, Anita Preble, Celeste Ribeiro
1) Confirmed the meeting dates for the year 2025 - 2nd Wednesday
of the month - 4/9, 5/14, 6/11, 7/9, 8/13, 9/10, 10/8, 11/12, 12/10
2) We are looking for more member for our committee - please talk
to family and friends about joining us!
3) Pride Day in Winthrop - 6/7 (rain date 6/8) - connect with Wendy
Millar to start a google doc where agencies or businesses can
sign up to sponsor a food item or donate to the event, have a
table with advertising, and/or have someone speak about Pride
in their business. They are also looking for people to speak
about their experiences as an LGBTQ individual in Winthrop.
- Also maybe see if some places could do their own “pride”
event at their business during the week if they can’t attend
the event or in addition?
- Celeste will do a little blurb that we can send out to people
we might know with different agencies/businesses so we
are all using the same talking points
4) Ballot Questions Voting coming - discussed having Apr 5, 2025
information on the ballot in multiple languages - reach out to
Town Council - Anita has some information sheets with pros and
cons that she can translate and hand out to the ELPAC meeting
attendees (there were 36 families at last month’s event for
immigrant families in Winthrop)
- The discussion included how to reach families in town who might
not have transportation to an event and/or transportation to vote

(maybe ask the school dept if the town uses their bus to bring
folks to the polls if they need a ride?)
5) May is AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Heritage Month
and Mental Health Awareness Month. We talked about reaching
out to the community regarding these as well. Perhaps doing
some sort of sheet with information about the various events and
heritage months we are trying to promote and asking if they
would like to be involved in any of them?
- Aaron said he is trying to get a list from Diane Aliberti at the
Chamber of Commerce of all the businesses currently
registered in town to reach out to for sponsorship and to
put up fliers. (Swett’s has a bulletin board with town
happenings as does the Winthrop Marketplace)
