Winthrop Firehouse Building Committee Meeting
Thursday, April 8 2025 – Harvey Room 
PRESENT : Karin Chavis, Hannah Belcher, Jim Letterie, Joe Hanlon, Jack Dempsey,
Jill Dorr, Kim Dimes, Paul Flanagan, Stephen Calandra. Shannon Poulos
Absent: Scott Wiley, Marc Wallerce

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE : 
MINUTES : Minutes from the April 3rd meeting were approved with a notation that
Shannon Poulos was absent from this meeting. 
PUBLIC COMMENT : 
OLD BUSINESS: 
Karin Chavis praised the hard work of the FHBC and the Firefighters who worked
tirelessly to have this vote pass. Union president, Kevin Gorman spoke on behalf of the
Firefighters union. He said working in conjunction with the Winthrop Says Yes
committee helped to pass the vote for the new firehouse. Paul Flanagan commended
Kevin about the social media presence, thought it was impactful for voters to see.
Procurement office will send bid out – hoping to have bids for OPM by April 30 th . FHBC
won ’ t meet for at least one month.
Jim Letterie also praised the efforts of the committee. A few months ago, 9 town
counselors had differing view points on where to build a new fire station, a lot of
progress was made.
A sub committee will be formed to interview/select the OPM. They will choose three to
four OPM ’ s to meet with. The Town Manager has the final say on who will be selected. 
NEW BUSINESS :
An FHBC meeting will be scheduled in a month to determine next steps to be taken.
