MINUTES HEALTH AND SAFETY SUBCOMMITTEE JULY 22, 2025 5:30 PM HARVEY HEARING ROOM RE: NATIONAL GRID-WR# 311116656-NORTH SIDEWALK MAIN ST. MEMBERS SUZANNE SWOPE, CHAIR PAT COSTIGAN JOE AIELLEO (Absent) The Committee discussed the National Grid-WR#3111665656-North Sidewalk Main Street. Project. The attached states the project and the need to perform the work. The committee voted to pass the motion to proceed with the project. They asked that it be expedited so it did not interfere with the beginning of school on August 27th. In summary the motion came out of Committee with a positive recommendation. The Committee also discussed the need to place an audio signal at the intersection. The signal volume needs to loud since the intersection is quite noisy. Also, once the light is mounted, the students, in particular, need to be aware that they cannot cross the street until the audio signal tells them to walk; since the green arrow allows cars to turn left, while the major light is red. This can be dangerous if students try to run across the street when the light turns red.
