There was an emphasis on feveraging the town’s coastal and historical assets. Participants
discussed potential initiatives, such as establishing a sister city in another country or state and
organizing beach events such as clambakes. The group explored the possibility of hosting events
that could attract visitors. such as historical tours, poetry readings in honor of Sylvia Platt. or
bringing back sandcastle contests, although that would be competing with Revere. Suzanne will
meet with the Chamber of Commerce to discuss possibilities.

Safety issues

Safety concerns, particularly during snow removal on sidewalks, parking lots and streets as well
as overall communication during emergencies were addressed. Suggestions were made to
improve the coordination among departments and establish clear points of contacts for
residents. The discussion highlighted the needs for better communication systems, including the
promotion of reverse 9/11 and the importance of updating emergency pians to reflect current
departmental structures and responsibilities.
