OLD BUSINESS/GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Dan Pallotta announced that phase two of the construction has begun. The contractors will begin a week from next
Monday, October 19 th by prepping for the foundation. Recent inclement weather has caused minor setbacks. With
heavy rainfall there has been a lot of groundwater, there may be a water leak under the gym they will investigate to
see if the water is leaking from an old pipe. Weekly meetings have taken place regarding the block wall, it should
have been done this week, but rainfall caused a delay, and it will be starting this Wednesday. Geotech company LCGI
will be coming to inspect the soil to ensure that the area is safe to build on. There are piles of debris, some will be
repurposed and some will have to be trucked out offsite. We are on pace to schedule a groundbreaking. Ms. Dimes
had concerns regarding the outfall pipe from Donovan ’ s beach, and the efficacy of the catch basin/drain. She
wondered if there ’ s an additional leak. Mr. Pallotta said that the town is planning to conduct a dye test to determine
where the water is coming from. She also inquired about the extra debris that will be taken offsite, could the town use
any of that material for projects around town. Chief Calandra asked what we could expect to see in the next ninety
days of this project provided there are no delays. Mr. Pallotta stated that the foundation will be one hundred percent
installed and possibly the first load of steel will be delivered and then things happen fast. Once the steel goes up there
will be a month or so of straightening, seismic bracing and other detail work. Ms. Chavis stressed the importance of
having accessibility to the gymnasium for voting day on November 3 rd . The OPM, contractor, representatives from
KBA and town manager Marino, Mr. Letterie will continue to meet weekly to discuss ongoing issues as they arise. A
re-dedication of the Cellucci plaque was held over the weekend, and the family was very touched. We will meet in
another month to discuss the design of the wall and if there are any changes in the budget.
