My name is [removed], and I am a North Shore journalist who is working on an enterprise story about country clubs and golf courses – particularly private ones – who receive tax breaks under Chapter 61B – the taxation and classification of recreation land.

Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting the following documents and information for Winthrop Golf Club, 453 Main St, Winthrop, MA 02152, and Winthrop golf courses that I may have overlooked:

Does Winthrop have golf-course land that falls under Chapter 61B? I am requesting the golf/club course’s property tax bills paid to the town of Hamilton for each of the following years: FY 2015, FY 2016, FY 2017, FY 2018, FY 2019 and FY 2020 How many acres encompass golf-course land in your community? For how many years have these country/golf clubs applied for and received the 75 percent discount under Chapter 61B? How much would these clubs individually generate at the fully assessed recreational-use value?
